Where better to spend New Year's eve than at the port in Punta Del Este?..

Yes, hotels are very expensive that time of year, but the atmosphere was electric.

The party was great, Uruguayans, Brazilians, Argentinians and of course, a Welshman, all enjoying being in Uruguay for a superb vacation.

Then onto Colonia del Sacramento, for an entirely different experience.

You MUST go!..

Yes, Jason...you are absolutely right!

Punta del Este is a TOP tourist destination in South America alright.

Not in vane it's called the "St. Tropez of South America", where top celebrities in every imaginable field meet up.

From fashion to sports, gamblers to sailors, top models to Hollywood stars, plus South American well offs and international travellers alike, Punta del Este is THE place to be.


True, Punta del Este is pricey during summer season, particularly January, but you can avoid it by carefully choosing the time to visit.

A good option is late November-early Dec and late February-early march.
