South America Border Crossings

Hi there
We are travelling on motorbike to Central & South America starting in a few weeks and would like to know the best borders to cross at for:

Colombia to Ecuador
Ecaudor to Peru
Peru to Bolivia
Bolivia to Chile
Chile to Argentina

We have tried researching ourselves but ended up at crossings with water not road.. ahaaa !

Hi Julie,
It seems the Pan-American highway is the answer:

It follows the Pacific coast all the way down to the very end of South America.
As for Chile to Argentina crossing, there are several options. If you are close to Santiago de Chile try the Libertadores tunnel. If close to Puerto Montt, use Puyehue pass.

Also through Vicente Peres Rosales Nat. Park and Todos Los Santos lake that will take you to Puerto Blest and Bariloche in Argentina's Nahuel Huapi National Park (not sure you can take your bike though).

There are more option further than South in Chile, as in the vicinity of Puerto Natales, that links to Rio Gallegos, in Argentina's Patagonia.

Another option is Puerto Porvenir to Ushuaia (Argentina)with a ferry through Magellan Strait.
