Haiku Deck: Amazon Rainforest

The Amazonia or Amazon rainforest gets its name from the Amazon river, considered to be the largest river system in th world. It flows for more than 4,000 miles to discharge in the Atlantic ocean near Belem, Brazil. It's the second longest river in the world after the Nile, made up of over 1,100 tributaries, 17 of which are longer than 1000 miles.

Its drainage basin covers 2,722,000 million square miles and lies in the countries of Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and the three Guyanas, occupying about 2/3ds of the South American continent.
