Brazil beaches is the answer if you dream about golden-sand beaches beneath coconut palm trees, warm blue-turquoise waters and sun all year long.
Brazil boasts more stunning tropical beaches than you can shake your bikini at.
It has the longest coastline along the Atlantic ocean like no other country in South America.
In fact, with 8,000 km. of coastline and thousands Brazil beaches to choose from you are not short of options, and surely will discover one that satisfies your desires and preferences.
Brazilian culture wouldn't survive without a beach nearby.
In Brazil the beach is not just a place to go for recreation or sport, it is a way of life. It is intrinsically part of brazilian culture.
Back in the 1960's they invented the "tanga" (thong bikini), today, we find filo dental ("dental floss") bikinis.
Brigitte Bardot made Brazil beaches famous many years ago, particularly Buzios (not far from Rio), later to be visited by the Rolling Stones among other world celebrities.
From world famous Copacabana (voted world's top ten beach) and Ipanema, in Rio, to the top Fortaleza beaches such as Canoa Quebrada and Jericoacoara, Fernando de Noronha archipélago or Porto do Galinhas (some 60 km. to the South of Recife), in the Brazilian NE, to choose the best beaches seems to be an impossible task.
Just recently, the Guardian newspaper (UK) has come up with their own top ten Brazil beaches - April 2009.

Brazil Beaches: Top Ten
So here goes the list...
- 1.- Alter do Chao, state of Para.
Somewhere in the Amazon rainforest, at 30 km. of Santarem.
The jungle city of Santarem is located at the point where Tapajos river meets the Amazon river, causing what it's known as the "wedding of the waters", due to their different colour of water and speed of flow.
- 2.- Fernando de Noronha (archipélago).
A superb diving destination with a beautifully preserved environment. Try Praia do Sancho, Bahia dos Porcos and Atalaia. Read more about Fernando de Noronha..
- 3.- Praia do Toque, state of Alagoas.
Sao Miguel dos Milagros is located between famous beaches in Recife and Bahia, two hours flight from Sao Paulo.
- 4.- Taipus de Fora, state of Bahia.
In the Maraú peninsula, some 370 km to the South of Salvador da Bahia.
- 5.- Caraiva, state of Bahia.
Located at 70 km. of Porto Seguro (it has an International Airport since 1993) and 707 km. to the South of Salvador da Bahia.
- 6.- Praia do Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro.
Not much to add here, we are talking Rio and its most famous beaches: Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Arpoador sits just there.
- 7.- Lopes Mendes, Ilha grande.
Just get a bus from Rio to Angra dos Reis (about 3 hours) and then a ferry to llha Grande. You will arrive to Abraao - the island's only town. Get a boat to Manges beach (Pouso) and walk a twenty minutes trail to Lopes Mendes.
- 8.- Praia da Fazenda, state of São Paulo.
Located half way between Rio and São Paulo.
- 9.- Praia do Bonete, Ilhabela, state of Sao Paulo.
Ilhabela (beautiful island) is located 210 miles from Rio and 138 miles from São Paulo.
- 10.- Lagoinha do Leste, Florianopolis, state of Santa Catarina.
Florianopolis has over forty beaches to choose from. Lagonha do Leste is a deserted beach on the south of the island.
