Argentina Tours...
Exploring its vast natural wonderland

Eighth-largest country in the world, Argentina should be part of your South America vacation for many different reasons. For starters, the amount of natural attractions is absolutely remarkable, so it's the number of Argentina tours you could choose to explore it.

Stretching almost 4,000 km from its sub-tropical north to the sub-antarctic south, it's home to the astonishing Iguazu (Iguassu) falls - shared with Brazil - as much as the thunderous Perito Moreno glacier, and just about everything else in between.

This vast natural wonderland includes the Andes, the vasteness of the Pampas and Patagonia (check some Patagonia tours for a broader view), the Lakes district, Valdes Peninsula (a superb whale-watching experience), the wine region of Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, the rich wetlands of Iberá (in Mesopotamia region), and the list goes on.

Argentina is also home to the highest and lowest points in the Americas, Mt Aconcagua (6.962 m.a.s.l.) in Mendoza province and Laguna del Carbón, at 105 meters below sea level, in Santa Cruz province.

But Argentina is much more than that. While Gauchos and tango dancers have given the country a certain mistyque, the European influence is written all over it. In fact, it's considered the most American of all European countries and the most European of all American countries.

Nowhere else this is more evident than in Buenos Aires, the country's capital, so make sure it's part of any of the Argentina tours you select for your holidays. Don't leave out fútbol (soccer), Argentinians are so passionately devoted to this sport that experiencing a live match should definitely be on your itinerary, as much as a tango show in San Telmo, Barracas, La Boca or Palermo neighborhoods.

And when it comes to Argentina's cuisine, you'll be struggling to maintain your waistline. From perfectly grilled juicy steaks at the Parrillas (steak restaurants) to pizza, pasta and a huge variety of ethnic food, you'll be overwhelmed by options.

Note on currency exchange:

Since the government introduced tough currency exchange restrictions on its people a while ago, a black market has emerged. In short, there's an official rate and a "blue" rate. The latter will put more pesos in your pocket - sometimes 30% better - so if you bring hard cash (advisable this time around) choose an unofficial trader to exchange your dollars, euros or pounds.
