Airports in Bolivia... Main airfields in the country
If you are planning some Bolivia vacations
check the following list of airports in Bolivia
as you will surely be landing at one of its three main international airports
located at La Paz (world's highest airport)
Cochabamba and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Due to the large number of airfields in the country - Bolivia ranks 8th in the world for its number of airstrips
with over 900 airports (16 with paved runways)- we've shortened the list to airports in Bolivia serving main cities only.
Download the map of Bolivia to quickly find cities and airports servicing them.
There is of course the option of getting around by bus
car and train but it can get quite difficult at times so unless you've got plenty of time you are better off catching a plane and discover the main tourist attractions in Bolivia in a time-efficient manner.
Main Bolivia airlines are AeroSur (Compañía Boliviana de Transporte Aéreo Privado Aerosur
S.A.) - the country's flagship national carrier after Lloyd Aereo Boliviano ceased operations in 2007- Aerocon and Amaszonas ( the latter two for domestic flights only).
Just recently (2009), the three mentioned airlines have created UNABOLIVIA (Unión Nacional de Aerolíneas de Bolivia) being AeroSur the only international carrier reaching Europe, USA and several countries in South America.
Boliviana de Aviación (BOA) is a newly government created airline operating since 2009, conducting domestic flights to La Paz
Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.
As for international commercial airliners flying to Bolivia
the list include: American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, etc.
There is also a number of airlines with regular routes through Bolivia and linking several South American countries such as Aerolíneas Argentinas, TAM, Lan Airlines, Taca Airlines and Gol.
